Nigeria Police caught doing what they know best

I got this picture and caption from my friend Atom Lim’s FB page. What more could I have added?

Bwahahaha. Tribune newspaper killed dis one! Lol! Today's cover carries a photo of Tinubu in d dock at d conduct tribunal. Inset is a photo of police men, and women, on duty at de tribunal scrambling for money 'sprayed' by Asiwaju's supporters. Lol!

Here’s a clearer picture of the policemen doing their thing.

Nigeria Police in action

hmmm... what are they really doing?

Now based on this picture alone, one can say that the allegation that they are scrambling for money is disputable. Unless you were an actual eyewitness, you can’t really say. They are so locked in that the purported money is not even visible.

The photographer could have done better.

On the ABSU rape

I have not posted in days because frankly speaking that rape gist that broke all over Twitter on Saturday night/Sunday morning really bummed me out. (I have been looking for how best to say something on it here and would  not post anything else till I talked bout it.)

It got worse after I saw the video. My friend who showed it to me regretted doing so after seeing how badly I reacted to it. The first question that came to my mind was: Is it so hard to find someone willing enough to sleep with you?

Why did they have to put the poor girl through so much hell just for sex? And to all those that were saying that the girl asked for it: No one ever asks to be made a victim!

And to those who asked why did she go there anyway? Well, most crimes of passion (or whatever you want to call it) are often perpetrated by someone who the victim trusts. Does it mean we should stop trusting people?  Nope, just be extra careful with those you trust.

I can’t even write a good post on this shit but I love how dailytimesng is handling it and following it up- that’s journalism! I liked especially Chxta’s article especially where he says:

Let Chxta make one thing clear here. Chxta has sisters; and were it Chxta’s sister that was at the receiving end of this kind of behaviour from some idiot, Chxta would make sure he (they) get beaten to death if that is the last thing that Chxta does.

Please read the articles for the full gist (if you do not already know about the case) and be enraged to action if it is just teaching your kids- not just your daughters- more about the ways of the world. The best protection you can bestow to your child against things like this is educating them about it.

No, don’t just “reject it” or God-forbid-it. Let your baby know that evil exists in this world and teach them how to avoid being victims.

Kudos to Linda Ikeji for stirring up a storm. With the way the government is dragging their feet on it, I hope something tangible comes out of all this. Something that would bring peace to the girl and other rape victims in the long run.

Brad Pitt slams his marriage to Jen Aniston

I was going to title this post Brad Pitt disses Jennifer Aniston then I remembered that I have used the word “disses” so many times this week. Seems like rich people and Hollywood stars love dissing each other a lot.

Brad Pitt and Jenniffer Aniston

Looke more sad than dull...

So Brad Pitt does this interview with Parade magazine in which he finally opens up about the dissolution his first marriage. He went as far as blaming his marriage to Jen for the dull life he was living then.

“I spent the ’90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage [to actress Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.”

Hmmm… The interview reads like he really harbours some resentment against her or their marriage. Na she propose give you?!

On the other hand, he praised his union to Angelina Jolie to the skies.

“One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom. She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I’m so happy to have her.”

Looks like the phrase “Poor Jen” is now back in vogue. She just can’t seem to catch a break from the Jolie-Pitts.

In an update he back-pedals and issues this statement

“It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself — and that, I am responsible for.”

You should have said that to begin with.

Oh well…
